Outside of Work
I am an avid Ultra/ long distance runner who has taken on several ultra distanced races across the UK and have won several/came in the top 3 females and represented various companies including GB Ultras. Also, I have ran the London Marathon 3 times qualifying each year with a good for age entry.
Also, I have a love for fine dining and afternoon tea – In my spare time love going to hotels/restaurants in the Lakes.
Interesting Fact
I have run the famous Montane Lakeland 100-mile race which takes place each year – 3 times. If you complete 5 100’s you receive a special slate Lakeland 500 slate – Only 9 females have ever received one.
Also, I have lived / worked in 4 countries including – China, USA, Cyprus, and UK.
Most interesting job – what would I love to recruit for
I love recruiting for Admin/Legal based roles – These roles can be quite technical and require more focus on finding out how the candidate can fit into the role. Also, most roles like this require qualifications – and I can always put my past experiences/qualifications to use when recruiting for these roles.
Years in the business
I have been in recruitment now for around 2 and a half years.
I started my first recruitment consultant job in Manchester city centre with a company named Class One (which was my first ever 9-5 roles – first time having weekends off) after coming away from a senior operations role in hospitality. I started with hospitality temporary recruitment – and then moved into my second recruitment job, also staying in Manchester City Centre with Jubilee Hospitality – where I moved into a role of Operations Manager for the northwest – This was a start-up office with the company expanding to Manchester having already established themselves across the UK. My role here was focusing again on temporary and permanent hospitality recruitment, as well as driving sales and new business development. My final role before moving into recruitment – was Spa Director for Macdonald Hotels.
Prior to Perfect Recruitment
I started my first hospitality role at the very young age of just 14 – Starting at Ashfield House Hotel on work experience cleaning bedrooms in housekeeping. From there – My love for hospitality became adamant! I loved looking at hotel rooms, working as a team and ‘time of feet’ aspect (moving your body). Since Ashfield House – I went onto study BA (hons) International Hospitality Management and came away with a 1st Class Honours, whilst also working at The Hilton Hotel Manchester Deansgate and worked in Cloud 23/Executive Lounge during my time at university. I then moved to Cyprus to pursue the second year of University – then moved to Nashville TN as an intern to work at the Hyatt Place Downtown Nashville TN, once graduating from University I went to Guangzhou China as a graduate to work for Marriott Hotels, this was at the 1200 bedroom Marriott – a fabulous Chinese experience and working in such a prestigious hotel. From there I went to work in London at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, as a Guest Relations Executive – five-star prestigious hotel and then moved to the Midland Manchester to work as a Guest Relations Manager. Following from here – I went working at Mottram Hall Champneys as a Front Office Manager and then moved to Macdonald Hotels as a Spa Operations Manager before then becoming the Spa Operations Director. Within all this I was one of the lucky people to win an Acorn Award 30 under 30 award – which is given to 30 people under the age of 30 in a senior role in hospitality who are showing potential. Also, I completed a master’s degree in law – International Business Law (LLM) to broaden my career prospects.
Before then taking a break from the world of a busy – full on in hotels/hospitality to then into the world of recruitment. Looking forward to seeing where the next few years will take me.
Why do I work for Perfect Recruitment
When working in Manchester – I was commuting almost 3-4 hours per day with a 5-day office-based recruitment job. I really wanted to find something more local to champion a ‘better work life balance’ and to have more focus on the day-to-day job. In the week of these thoughts – Lisa the Director had posted a job opening for a Senior Recruitment Consultant role – Almost to good to be true! I instantly messaged my interest to Lisa – The rest is history! Perfect Recruitment offers not just a brilliant work life balance, but the opportunity to really shine and run your own desk – to drive the sales, business development, and work on new ideas. The team have been very supportive and patient with me moving into a smaller team/business. I love the philosophy Lisa has created and this is what makes a business really work. I have been here almost 12 months, and time has flown by with having so much fun.
