Working in recruitment has been an incredibly fulfilling journey for me. I joined Perfect Recruitment in 2021, making the leap from the hospitality industry, where I had worked since 2013. It was a big change, but one that felt natural given my experience and passion for working with people.
The Excitement of the Temps Desk
I primarily work on the temporary desk, though I do dabble in permanent recruitment throughout the year. What I love most about working on temps is the fast-paced nature of the job—no two days are ever the same! It keeps me on my toes and constantly engaged, solving problems, and making quick decisions to ensure both our clients and candidates are happy.
Building Strong Relationships
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is the relationships we build with both clients and chefs. We work closely with them, getting to know everyone on both a personal and professional level. This connection makes all the difference when placing candidates, as we can truly match chefs to assignments that best fit their skills, personality, and preferences. Knowing that we’ve placed someone in a role where they will thrive is incredibly satisfying.
Visiting Clients: A Perk of the Job
Another great part of recruitment is visiting our clients. Seeing firsthand how each business operates and meeting the people behind the scenes adds a personal touch to our work. Putting a face to a voice strengthens our relationships and helps us better understand the specific needs of each business.
Funny Moments on the Job
Recruitment comes with its fair share of unexpected moments! One of the funniest experiences I’ve had was when we placed a candidate from Preston in a two-week hotel booking in Bradford. After his first day, I gave him a call to check how it went, only to find out he had driven all the way back to Preston that evening—because he had left his front door wide open! Needless to say, he wasn’t too focused on his new role, and we haven’t worked with him since! If a candidate doesn’t enjoy a booking, they’re always welcome to tell us—we’re not offended! But maybe just remember to lock the door next time!
Balancing Recruitment and Teaching Pilates
Outside of recruitment, I also have another passion—I teach Pilates in the evenings and on weekends. Juggling both roles has been challenging, but it has taught me the importance of finding balance and avoiding burnout. Just like recruitment, Pilates is incredibly rewarding—I love helping people move their bodies and feel better in themselves. Both roles involve working with people, building trust, and making a positive impact, which is why I find them so fulfilling. https://www.exhalepilatesstudio.co.uk/
The Rewarding Side of Recruitment
Ultimately, recruitment is about helping people—whether it’s finding the right role for a candidate or providing clients with the perfect addition to their team. It’s fast-paced, dynamic, and full of surprises, but that’s what makes it so exciting. I’ve met some amazing people along the way and continue to learn something new every day. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else! https://perfect-recruitment.co.uk/contact-us/
